With cooperation from Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bomb survivors,
RERF continues its study of the health effects of A-bomb radiation for peaceful purposes

The principal focus of RERF’s research program is to study radiation effects in the survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Several fixed cohorts and sub-cohorts have been established to provide epidemiological and clinical data on the health status and mortality of the survivors and their children. Laboratory-based research in the fields of radiobiology, immunology, genetics, and molecular epidemiology is conducted to interpret numerous findings and contribute to understanding of disease-induction mechanisms.
