Our mission

The Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF), a binational research organization, investigates the health effects of atomic bomb radiation among A-bomb survivors in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Our research results have been used as the foundation for policy development in countries throughout the world in terms of safety measures for radiation workers. They have also been used in the formulation of guidelines to protect the public from unnecessary radiation exposure in medicine, such as in diagnostic radiation or radiotherapy.
