At the meeting, RERF reported on the progress of the Clinical Study of the F1 Offspring of A-bomb Survivors (F1 Clinical Study) to external experts in the fields of clinical medicine, basic science, and ethics. Following conclusion of the meeting, a press conference was held for the media.
The F1 Clinical Study aims to clarify the relationship between parental exposure to radiation from the atomic bombings and disease in their children, as well as the relationship between such exposures and findings observed in biological samples such as blood and urine. The study’s aim is to investigate and understand the hereditary effects of radiation. Another important objective of the study is to contribute to the health and well-being of each participant through medical examinations and health guidance.
