Dr. Arikuni Uchimura Receives Best Poster Award at 53rd Naito Conference
Dr. Arikuni Uchimura, Acting Chief of the Department of Molecular Biosciences and Laboratory Chief of the Molecular Genetics Laboratory at the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF), received the Best Poster Award at the 53rd Naito Conference, held from Tuesday, July 8 to Friday, July 11, 2025.
The Naito Conference is a prestigious, four-day, on-site international scientific meeting that convenes approximately 80 leading experts from around the world to share their latest research findings and participate in active discussions related to the conference theme. This year’s conference theme was “Germ Cell Biology: Unraveling the Continuity of Finite Life.”
Dr. Uchimura received the Best Poster Award for his highly evaluated research on “Effects of Genomic DNA Mutations in the Germlines on Later Generations” using an experimental mouse model. The award, presented in a highly competitive environment with many prominent researchers in attendance, represents recognition of Dr. Uchimura’s individual achievements and also provides great encouragement for our institute. RERF anticipates that the honor will further inspire and energize our research efforts.
RERF remains committed to advancing scientific knowledge on the medical effects of A-bomb radiation, with a view to contributing to the health and welfare of all humankind, including A-bomb survivors and their children.
About the Naito Conference
The Naito Conference is an international academic gathering held annually since 1991 by the Naito Foundation, with the aim of promoting basic research in the natural sciences. Now in its 53rd year, the conference is conducted in a closed, four-day on-site format. It invites approximately 25 leading researchers from around the world in a specific scientific field, along with around 60 poster presenters selected through a competitive application process. The conference fosters the growth of young researchers by recognizing outstanding poster presentations and supports the advancement of basic research in the natural sciences.
