Radiation exposure of parents and the health of their children: Briefing session on a new study by RERF
Like last year, we will once again hold the explanatory meeting titled “Radiation exposure of parents and the health of their children: Briefing session on a new study by RERF,” in accordance with the following details.
- Date and Time: Tuesday, August 5, 2025, starting at 11:00 a.m.
- Venue: Hiroshima Laboratory Auditorium
- Speaker: Arikuni Uchimura, Acting Chief of the Molecular Biosciences Dept., RERF
Since the time of its predecessor organization, the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC), RERF has performed long-term studies about the effects of parental radiation exposure on the health of their children. To date, no scientific evidence has been found indicating an effect from parental radiation exposure on children’s health. RERF is currently planning a new study to further examine this relationship at the genomic level. This briefing session will provide an overview of the new research plan and basic information about the genome itself in a readily understandable manner.
The session content will essentially be the same as that presented at last year’s Open House event. As we will set aside time for questions at the session about the research, please feel free to ask us anything you are unsure about at that time.
