2025 RERF Open House has concluded
The Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF) works to hold an Open House every year with the aim of communicating our work to the public. In 2025, the event was once again held at the research laboratories in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, welcoming around 630 visitors. We express our sincere gratitude to everyone who attended the event despite the intense summer heat and the rainy weather in Nagasaki.
This year’s Open House coincided with two significant milestones — the 80th year since the atomic bombings and the 50th anniversary of RERF’s establishment. Through exhibits with a focus on the ‘past, present, and future,’ RERF introduced the history of its research as well as its future outlook. In keeping with last year’s event, RERF also held an explanatory session at the research laboratory in Hiroshima regarding our planned genome analysis research project, which was attended by around 65 members of the public.
This year’s event was particularly meaningful, as it marked the first full-scale, in-person Open House event held by RERF in six years, since 2019, after several years of cancellations and events held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. RERF staff were delighted to once again have the opportunity to showcase our facilities and research activities to so many visitors.
Finally, we once again extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who supported us in making this event possible.
