Ambassadors to Japan from nations around the world visit RERF

On the evening of August 6, ambassadors to Japan and senior embassy delegations from around the world paid a visit to the Hiroshima Laboratory of the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (RERF).

A total of 26 people who attended Hiroshima City’s Peace Memorial Ceremony that morning made the trip —25 ambassadors and diplomatic staff representing 18 nations, as well as one person working for an international organization.

To begin, RERF Chair Kenji Kamiya welcomed the visitors, and Vice Chair Preetha Rajaraman provided an overview of ABCC–RERF’s history and research findings. Following the presentation, members of RERF’s public relations staff gave a tour of the facility. We had a very productive time, with many active and engaging questions from the visitors.

Prior to this event, Ambassador Sibi George, Ambassador of India to Japan, and his staff made a special visit to RERF to understand and learn about our work.

It was meaningful and a profound honor to welcome global peace advocates to RERF’s Hiroshima Laboratory on August 6, a day of special significance.
